Kevin Lynch is out!
As clerk of the Privy Council, Lynch, was Harper’s deputy minister. Well, what’s in it for the research community?
It is rumoured that he had strong opinions on what’s good, what’s bad, and what’s ugly in the various government’s programs supporting R&D (Everybody should!). This is sort of expected since he was deputy minister at Finance and Industry under Paul Martin and Jean Chretien, and was an economist at the Bank of Canada from 1976-1981. This time around, he was obviously on the opposite side of his former boss about research funding.
