June 19, 2009
Yesterday, the federal government announced grants totalling more than $665-million for 133 projects at 41 institutions through three major CFI infrastructure programs. Roughly $250-million was awarded through each of the Leading Edge Fund (LEF) and the New Initiatives Fund (NIF), with an additional $150-million was awarded through Infrastructure Operating Grants. The program is funding projects running the gamut of research, including research into space exploration, alternative energy, biodiversity, telecommunications, biomedical research, and manufacturing.
CFI has posted a list of award recipients for the LEF and NIF on their website.
