Toronto’s MaRS steps up innovation agenda

The Globe and Mail featured a profile on the newly appointed first president of the “MaRS Innovation” program. Raphael Hofstein will serve as the full-time president of the independent program, which serves to assist and accelerate the commercializaton of discoveries made at 14 Toronto-area member research institutions. MaRS has apparently secured roughly $25-million in funding for the next five years, including the $15-million it received when it was named a Centre of Excellence for Commercialization and Research (CERC) by the government in February.
