Survey of Canada’s Biotech Industry

There has been a lot of commentary on the state of Canada’s biotech industry and investment environment during the last several weeks. This has been largely due to the report by Canada’s Science Technology and Innovation Council, which pointed out Canada’s poor innovation performance, and a report by Ernst and Young which suggested the Canadian biotech community is in trouble. The bloggers at Cross-Border Biotech Blog provide a nice summary of the reaction to the reports, dividing them into optimistic and pessimistic outlooks. They seem to fall on the optimistic side of the ledger, suggesting that major stimulus investments by Ontario and Quebec should mitigate the worst effects on the industry.
