Et toi NICDS, Qui va te sauver?

As reported in (Let’s play Cut the Granting Councils), NSERC’s President “pleased to see continuing investments in the Canadian Science, Technology and Innovation system” asserts that the “Major Resources Support (MRS) program will, in future, provide support only for major resources which are unique on a national or international scale”, but does not mention the planned 25-30% (?) cut to that program’s budget. Last week, the scientific community learned about one of the first MRS victims, the Mont Megantic Observatory, which has since been rescued. Now we hear about the triple A+ NICDS.  The Message to MRS applicants mentions the substantial budget constraints faced by the MRS Program this year…
