April 23, 2009
- By responding to the five recommendations in the open letter.
- By assuring the creative forces of Canada that cutting research funding in a deficit-inducing stimulus budget, is not a precursor of an even deeper cut when the time comes for deficit-reducing budgets.
- By addressing their concerns vis-a-vis the country’s readiness to compete and collaborate with G7 countries that placed Science and Innovation at the heart of their stimulus agenda.
- By helping create a national atmosphere that respects, nurtures and empowers Canada’s research community.
This cannot happen by only making show of pre-budget cut funding announcements, but by opening a positive dialogue with Canada’s research community.
